地図を、現地を書き換えた。
あの山はここがmoyre と名付けられた頃には見えなかった。
地図には存在しない類推の、形而上の、不確定な山だった。
透明な山も現地には存在していて、明確に誰かのテリトリーだった。
いつだって純粋な地図が必要だ。
さもなくば、木木も岬も見えないままだ。
誰かが海に出てそれを呼ぶまで私たちは岬を知らなかった。
鳥は先天的な方向感覚で魔術的な道を知るという。
夕暮れ時にモエレ山の頂上からガラスのピラミッドの方を眺めると、
無名の鳥たちが山頂、峰、峰をかすめて沼へと向かう。
回廊を、庭をめぐるように標識をたどる。
野生の地図にこの山は記述されているだろうか。
一枚で複数に読まれうる地図があることを想像する。
自然のプランはいつだってはかなく不変かつ抽象的な具体物なのだから、
あたらしい地図はすこし曖昧なくらいが呼吸するように美しい。

私たちの暮らすこの世界を把握するための地図は、この世界そのものではありません。家やビル、道、川、岬、山などを標識として図に描きあらわされた地図は、人々が混乱せずこの世界を歩いて行くための認識のツールです。
では、動物たち―たとえば鳥は、どのように世界を把握しているのでしょうか?
狩野哲郎は、これまで、植物の発芽を見守るインスタレーションや、鳥や果実などの人間が制御することの出来ないものと既製品である園芸用品や鳥よけを展示空間に構成したインスタレーションなど、様々な手法で作品世界を生み出してきました。 本展で展開されるのは、既製品を組み合わせた卓上の/草上の/空中の/鳥のための/世界に存在するあらゆるなにかのための―ランドスケープです。それは人間から見ると大きな鳥かごのようでもあるし、一方、鳥から見るとひとつの都市とも捉えられるでしょう。狩野が投げかける曖昧でいくつもの視点を内包する世界は、鳥という他者に意識を傾けることで、これまで認識することのなかった新たな知覚が存在することを示します。
本展はガラスのピラミッド開館10周年を記念して開催するものです。モエレ沼公園の可能性を切り拓く、新しい試みをどうぞご覧ください。

「Art」と「Nature」は、人為と自然という、全く共通するところのない対立する概念である。ところが、これらの翻訳語を輸入する過程で、美術と自然が示す日本固有の意味が欧米のそれと完全に一致しないということはそれほど問題にならなかった。明治初期の「自然」という語義の揺れを柳父章が考察している。人間が主体として確立した近代キリスト教社会では、「Nature」は神につくられた被造物であり、手を加えるべき客体であり、支配すべき素 材であった。日本人においてそれ以前の自然とは、「Nature」と共通する「山水」の意味もあったが、親鸞の「をのずからしからしむ」という言葉にある ように、「天命」でもあり、より深遠な「神韻」でもあり、本質的な「粋」でもあった。自然というのは完全には客体化できない、人間にとっては主客未分化の状態にあったと指摘されている[1]。
